Information we collect
When you create a Birth Sky, we collect the details you provide, such as a child’s first name, birth or due date, birth time or time precision, and birthplace. When you order, we also receive contact, billing, shipping, transaction, and order information. We collect basic technical information needed to operate and secure the website, such as request logs, browser information, and approximate network information.
How we use information
We use this information to calculate and render personalized celestial artwork, remember an unfinished design, process payment, calculate tax, produce and deliver an order, provide customer support, prevent fraud, troubleshoot the service, and meet legal or accounting obligations. We do not use a child’s details to advertise to the child.
Browser storage and cookies
The creator stores unfinished design details in your browser so you can return without making an account. Temporary, security-focused cookies may also be used for private testing or other essential site functions. You can clear browser storage and cookies through your browser, but doing so may remove an unfinished design or temporary access.
Service providers
We disclose only the information reasonably needed for vendors to perform services for us. These providers currently include Stripe for checkout, payment, and tax calculation; Prodigi for print fulfillment and shipping; Geoapify for place search and geocoding; and DreamHost for website and database hosting. Providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
Selling and targeted advertising
Starborn Baby does not sell personal information for money. The current prototype does not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If those practices change, this policy and any legally required choices will be updated before they begin.
Retention
Unfinished browser data remains until you start over or clear it. Server-side generation and order records are retained only as reasonably needed to provide the service, support orders, prevent duplicate processing, and satisfy legal obligations. Prototype print assets are currently retained for up to 90 days for fulfillment retries and support, unless a longer period is required for an unresolved order or by law.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with you, subject to identity verification and exceptions required for completed transactions, fraud prevention, accounting, or law. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. Email hello@starbornbaby.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including HTTPS, restricted server-side credentials, signed asset links, private artwork storage, and payment processing hosted by Stripe. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Children’s privacy
The service is intended for adults purchasing keepsakes and is not directed to children under 13. Please do not allow a child to submit information directly. By providing a child’s birth details, you confirm that you are the parent, legal guardian, or otherwise authorized to provide them for creation of the keepsake.
